Last year he hosted his retirement "30th" ho'ike. I would love to see the HMHF honor composer, musician,kumu hula Frank KAWAIKAPUOKALANI Hewett. He is one of the most phenominal composers of his generation! So many have recorded and performed his mele. From earlier compositions that have become standards like kapilina to the recent Ola'a Beauty recorded by Hoku Zuttermeister. I am reminded of artists listed inside the liner notes of his Ulu Kau CD. He has blessed us with decades of ono mele. Kawaikapuo is truely worthy of consideration for nomination to the honorees of the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame. |
