Have you ever loved a woman so much you tremble on in pain?
All the time you know baby she belongs in another man's arms.

You carried on with that woman so much it's shame and a sin.
You keep following that woman so much it's shame and a sin.
All the time you know baby she belongs to your very best friend.

Roimata Te E Aotea Eh e Ngaro (Aue)
Roimata E skene
Roimata Te E Aotea Eh e Ngaro x2

Me kua inangaro koe ia mama,
if you love that woman
Ruketekete te mamae;
nervousness of love
Me kua inangaro koe ia mama,
if you love that woman
Ruketekete te mamae;
nervousness of love
Kia kite ra koe i teia nei
may you now be informed
Tei roto aia i te rima o tetai ke.
she is in the arms of someone else

Roimata e topa nei
teardrops are falling
Roimata teia no te inangaro, i aue;
these are teardrops of love alas
Roimata e seke nei
teardrops are falling
Roimata teia no te inangaro
these are teardrops of affection.

Kia kite ra koe i teia nei
for your information
Tei roto aia i te rima o tetai ke.
you procrastinate and you lose.

Plese leave the words as I wrote them because if you break up a word into two words, it denotes a different meaning. Sometines, it will be offending. For example, "topa nei" means falling now; and "to panei" means a specific part of the male organ.
Another example, "Kite" means to see, sight, or vision; "ki te" means to the, to something.
Brother Love is his stage name. Rahui Akatika is his Cook Islands name and he composed this song as well as Te noo nei au ki runga i teia nei ao or I'm sitting on top of the world.

Kia Orana! I'm on a search for my Cook Island culture and Roimata has improved my pronounciation for the Reo. My Vanau don't appreciate that we are Kuki's, my Nan has Cook Islander on both her Mother and Father's Parents ( Mohi Tutaki and Miriama Maki) which I believe were from Aitutaki and Rarotonga. Roimata is a really catchy song and now I'm teaching it to my nieces!. I live in Gisborne,NZ and there isn't any programs for us Kuki's so i'm slowly developing my culture and hopefully when i'm older, I can Blossom and help my fellow islanders... Rahui (U ROCK!)

I, too, find 'Roimata' a mesmerizing song. I'm Tongan but I love the exhilirating beat of Cook, Rarotongan, and Tahitian music. I've spent countless hours trying to figure out the words and the spelling to Roimata so I decided to google it. Thank you for the lyrics/translation sammybond, now I don't have to go through the agony of trying to spell unfamiliar words,you're a godsend!!

Malo 'Aupito on behalf of all Tongans.
